Clubs and Venues
Purpose
Two related collections:
- Clubs — directory of other clubs your members play. Used by the Clubs Directory block, by Match Results, and by the SEO LocalBusiness schema.
- Venues — locations where Events happen. Most are your own course; some are external (away days, society outings).
When to use this
- Clubs: add a partner club when you create an inter-club fixture against them for the first time.
- Venues: when an event needs a location that isn't your own course.
Key fields (Clubs)
- Name, Slug.
- County — used for access control (super admins can scope by county).
- Address, Phone, Email — contact details.
- Coordinates — latitude/longitude for the map block.
- Courses — sub-collection of courses (Old, New, Championship).
- Handicap ranges, Visitor green fees — optional per-course.
- Images — hero + gallery.
Key fields (Venues)
- Name, Address, Coordinates.
- Capacity — optional, used by some event blocks.
- Amenities — bullet list (parking, catering, accessibility).
- Linked Club — relationship to a Clubs record if the venue is at another club.
Common tasks
Add a partner club
- Content > Clubs Directory, Create New.
- Name, County, Address, Coordinates (search address + drag pin).
- Add courses if you'll show round info.
- Save.
Bulk import clubs from a CSV
- Content > Clubs Import.
- Download the template CSV, fill it in, upload.
- Review the dry-run, then commit.
Add a venue for an away day
- Events > Venues, Create New.
- Name, Address, Coordinates.
- Optionally link to a Clubs record.
- Save. The venue is now selectable when creating an Event.
Gotchas
- Coordinates matter — the map block silently shows the wrong location if lat/long are off. Verify on the map preview.
- Multi-county access control — super admins can restrict who edits which Clubs by county. Tenant admins can edit any club in their county.
- Don't duplicate — search by name before creating a new club. Multiple records for the same club confuses the directory.
- Venue is the dedup key for events. When two sources (manual, CSV, Golf Genius) describe the same event on the same day, the matcher only merges them if the venue matches — either the same Venue record or the same venue name as text (case-insensitive). Picking a Venue record from the dropdown is the most reliable; free-text venue names work too as long as the spelling matches. An event with no venue at all is never merged. See Events and Calendar — How duplicates are detected.
