Contact Settings

Purpose

Controls what happens when a visitor submits the standard Contact form on your site: who gets notified, whether it lands in Chatwoot for ticketing, and what auto-reply the visitor sees.

When to use this

When you want to change the secretary's email, route to a different inbox, or hook into the Chatwoot support inbox.

Key fields

  • Default email — where contact form submissions are emailed. Multiple recipients allowed.
  • Notification email subject template — supports placeholders like {{name}} and {{subject}}.
  • Auto-reply enabled — whether to send a "thanks, we got it" email to the submitter.
  • Auto-reply subject / body — the auto-reply text.
  • Chatwoot URL — base URL of your Chatwoot inbox (e.g. https://inbox.nooqgolf.com).
  • Chatwoot inbox token — API token, lets us create a conversation on submission.
  • Form redirect — after submission, where the visitor lands. Default: a thank-you page.

Common tasks

Change the destination email

  1. Communications > Contact Settings.
  2. Update Default email.
  3. Save.

Connect to Chatwoot

  1. In Chatwoot, create an Inbox (or use your tenant's existing one).
  2. Copy the inbox API token.
  3. Contact Settings > Chatwoot URL + Chatwoot inbox token. Save.
  4. New submissions appear as conversations in Chatwoot.

Test the form

  1. Open the public Contact page.
  2. Submit a real test entry.
  3. Confirm the notification email arrives and (if configured) the Chatwoot conversation is created.
  4. Check Communications > Contact Submissions to confirm the submission record.

Gotchas

  • The auto-reply uses your Site Settings sender address (configured under Email Hosting or AWS SES). If your domain isn't verified, the auto-reply may go to spam.
  • Chatwoot integration is one-way — submissions become conversations, but replies in Chatwoot don't update the Contact Submission record.
  • Spam — the form uses a honeypot and basic rate limiting but no captcha. If you get heavy spam, ask support to enable Turnstile.
  • GDPR — submissions are stored in the Contact Submissions collection indefinitely. Delete old entries periodically.
