Match Results
Purpose
The Match Results collection holds scores and results from matches your club plays — inter-club games, league fixtures, cup ties. It's structured per-match with teams, players, and scores, separate from the lighter Events collection.
When to use this
- Inter-club matches, league fixtures, cup competitions where you need a structured result (not just a write-up).
- For competitions run internally (medal, stableford), use Events plus the Golf Genius sync.
- For a quick write-up with a photo, use a Post.
Key fields
- Title — e.g. "Cathkin v Sandyhills, 1st Round".
- Match date — when the match was played.
- Teams — Home and Away, each with a name, captain, and player array.
- Scores — per-pairing or per-player depending on the format.
- Format — Foursomes, Greensomes, Singles, Stableford (set the column layout).
- External ID / Source — set automatically for matches synced from Intelligent Golf.
- Status — Draft / Published.
Common tasks
Record a manual result
- Content > Match Results, Create New.
- Title, Match date, Format.
- Fill Home and Away team blocks with captain + players.
- Enter scores per pairing.
- Status = Published, Save.
Show results on a page
- On a Page or Post, add a Match Results block.
- Filter by date range or by team.
- The block renders a tidy results table.
Sync from Intelligent Golf
- If your club has the Intelligent Golf integration enabled, matches are imported automatically by the supplier integration service. Don't enter synced matches by hand — your edits will be overwritten on the next sync.
Gotchas
- Player names must match Member directory entries for any "view profile" link to work. Otherwise they render as plain text.
- Past matches are immutable in practice — editing a published result is allowed but member expectations are high. Add a "Result corrected on {date}: {reason}" note in the description.
- Format determines which columns render — switching format on a published match can blank out scores. Save a draft and double-check before publishing.
