Social Media Settings

Purpose

Connects your club's social accounts so the website can:

  1. Pull recent posts onto a homepage Social Feed block.
  2. Auto-post new blog articles and events to your social accounts.

When to use this

When you have club social accounts you want surfaced on the website, or when you want each new blog post to fan out automatically.

Key fields

  • Instagram — Business account ID, Page access token. Use Instagram Business Login (recommended) to fetch a long-lived token.
  • Twitter / X — API key, API secret, Bearer token. Requires a paid X developer plan.
  • TikTok — Open auth client key, client secret, access token.
  • Facebook — Page ID, Page access token.
  • LinkedIn — Organisation URN, OAuth token (for company pages).
  • Sync frequency — how often to fetch new posts (hourly, every 6h, daily).
  • Auto-post on publish — toggle per network. When a Post is published, fan out to enabled networks.
  • Auto-post template — text template for the social post (uses {{title}}, {{excerpt}}, {{url}}).

Common tasks

Connect Instagram (Business)

  1. Integrations > Social Media.
  2. Click Connect Instagram — opens the Instagram Business Login flow.
  3. Authorise, then return to the admin. The token is saved automatically.
  4. Set sync frequency.
  5. Save.

Enable auto-post for new blog posts

  1. Social Media Settings > Auto-post on publish > tick the networks.
  2. Edit the auto-post template.
  3. Save. The next time you publish a Post, it fans out within ~30 seconds.

Display the feed on the homepage

  1. Edit a Page.
  2. Add a Social Feed block.
  3. Pick which network(s) to show.

Gotchas

  • Tokens expire. Long-lived Instagram tokens last 60 days; the system refreshes them but if you change Facebook page roles the refresh can fail. If posts stop syncing, re-authorise.
  • API rate limits — Twitter is the strictest. Don't set sync frequency to hourly without a paid plan.
  • Cached posts live in the Social Content Cache (super-admin only). Sync writes here; the front-end reads from here.
  • Auto-post is fire-and-forget — if a network rejects a post, you'll see it in the supplier integration logs, not in the admin. Test by publishing a draft post.
  • Don't paste tokens in chat — copy them only into the secure token fields.
